Fortnite players come up with the perfect Pokemon collab

In the seven years since Fortnite was released, you'd think it might've ticked off most major IPs. Still, while we've seen everything from God of War to John Wick, the colourful battle royale is accused of continuously talking back on its Marvel and Star Wars crossovers. The Disnification of Fortnite isn't slowing down, with Pirates of the Caribbean also on the way.

We could sit here all day and conjure up dream collaborations we'd like to see, but for many, there's only one they want to see. Fortnite is still one of the biggest games around, so just imagine its pulling power if it joined forces with Pokemon.

Fortnite players come up with the perfect Pokemon crossover

Over on the Fortnite subreddit, players have come up with an ingenious way to put Pokemon on the map. Redditor u/GoodVibesFN suggested that we could add Pokemon in the form of Back Blings. You might remember Chapter 3 Season 3 did similar with its Among Us Back Blings.

The idea is that you'd interact with various Pokemon on the map, and by doing so, you'd effectively 'catch' them and add them to your locker as a Back Bling. With over 1,000 Pokemon currently in the Pokedex, it would be impossible to add all the Pocket Monsters, but we could imagine a number of the big hitters from various generations.

Unfortunately, as much money as a Pokemon x Fortnite crossover could earn, there are several problems. Nintendo is notoriously protective of its IPs and doesn't like its family-friendly image being tarnished by guns. This is why Mario and Co. will likely never arrive in-game.

Also, you only have to look at The Pokemon Company's disdain for Palworld effectively being Pokemon with guns. Realising this, one sceptic wrote, "This will never happen as Nintendo are infamously protective of their IP. According to Donald Mustard, they said they would allow a Samus skin if it was visible only to Nintendo Switch players."

Someone else added, "Even if Nintendo let collabs happen. Nintendo would NEVER put Pikachu anywhere near a game with assault rifles and sh*t," and a third said, "Epic: What a brilliant idea! Also Epic: Forces you to buy the starter Pokemon backings from the store, then makes the rest style challenges like they did with that one Eminem skin."

Even though we know a Pokemon collab could easily be Fortnite's most lucrative yet, we don't see this one happening. Thankfully, with Disney injecting $1.5 billion into Fortnite, there will be plenty of other crossovers for us to throw our V-Bucks at. You know what, Nintendo, you can keep your Pokemon.
