Another couple of done deals announced by Newcastle
Newcastle United have confirmed the permanent signings of two more players on Monday with the official announcements of goalkeeper John Ruddy and defender Lewis Hall.
Former England international Ruddy joins the Magpies on a free transfer from Birmingham City and will provide cover and competition in the squad with Eddie Howe’s side expected to see the departures of Mark Gillespie and Martin Dubravka from their goalkeeping ranks.
Lewis Hall signed on an initial loan deal from Chelsea but the young Englishman was always expected to be an obligatory purchase if clauses were met and he has now moved to St James’ Park on a permanent basis for a fee believed to be in the region of £28 million.
It has been a busy few days in the Premier League with Profit and Sustainability Rules causing something of a rush to make adjustments to accounts at the end of June and start of July.
It was confirmed late last night that Elliot Anderson had left the club and joined with Nottingham Forest signing him for a fee believed to be £35 million.
In a separate deal, Newcastle have announced the signing of another goalkeeper in Greek international Odysseas Vlachodimos for a smaller fee after he joined Forest from Benfica last summer.
