Marquez Valdes-Scantling Ready to 'Be Myself' in Bills Offense
The Buffalo Bills offense will look vastly different next season with Josh Allen's weapons getting a complete makeover.
Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis have gone, and a host of veteran, cost-effective receivers have been signed. One such player is Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
The former Kansas City Chief is looking at becoming a contributor to Joe Brady's offense and helping the Bills get past their playoff hump. But how will he go about his business in a receiver room that doesn't have a genuine No. 1 weapon?

It's rather simple: he's just going to be himself.
"I just come in there and be myself," Valdes-Scantling said on The Herd. "Whatever that version of myself is that's needed for the team to help them win, that's what it is. I've never really tried to say, 'Oh, yeah, I want to come in and replace a guy.' … Just going in and being myself is the goal. It's never about what anybody else did before me or after me, it's all about who I am and being the best version of myself."
While MVS has never been a big stats player, with his best-ever finish being 690 yards in 2020, he does have a knack for producing when it matters, and for a receiver room that lacks experience in the playoffs, it could be crucial.
Valdes-Scantling joins an offense that has Chase Claypool, Curtis Samuel, Keon Coleman, Mack Hollins, and Khalil Shakir, who is tasked with helping Allen navigate the regular season and make a deep playoff run.
Yes, there are doubts over whether that could happen, but Valdes-Scantling appears to be ready to do whatever is asked of him.
Perhaps the "best version" of MVS is the one in which a player is always an option for Allen in the passing game and, when balls come his way, makes plays.
In truth, that's all the Bills can hope for from Valdes-Scantling and he seems intent on making it so this season.
