Bloemfontein Celtic closing in on DStv Premiership return?

Bloemfontein Celtic could be set for a sensational return to topflight football ahead of next season according to reports.

Celtic have been away from the topflight scene of South African football since the 2021/22 season.

This is after their topflight status was sold to Royal AM’s MamKhize, who relocated the side to Durban. That took away the heart and soul of Bloemfontein’s football fanbase. There is now renewed hope that Celtic will benefit from the same situation and return to the top league. This comes after news broke last week that Marumo Gallants had acquired the topflight status of Moroka Swallows.

Upon acquiring that status Gallants announced that their team will be relocating to Bloemfontein. This sparked rumours that they could strike a deal to change their names to Bloemfontein Celtic. Now according to KickOff.com that is now a distinct possibility.

Celtic to return to DStv Premiership?

“The much celebrated Bloemfontein Celtic could be back in the DStv Premiership in the new season. This if their advanced plan goes as intended, Kickoff can exclusively reveal. KickOff can now reveal that Siwelele are closing-in on the return to the DStv Premiership, via a collaboration with Marumo Gallants. News reaching this website, from a source close to the dealings, is that previous Celtic owners are part of a business consortium that includes Bahlabane Ba Ntwa chairman Abram Sello, heading the bid to acquire the Premiership status of Moroka Swallows. This publication has been led to believe that the newly-formed consortium that allegedly includes former Celtic owner Jimmy Augusto, is behind the bid to buy Swallows, although officially under the name Marumo Gallants.

Since Bahlabane Ba Ntwa, who were campaigning in the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season, had already relocated to Bloemfontein and were playing their home games at Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium, Kickoff has gathered information that the plan of the consortium is to permanently relocate the club to the City of Roses and rename the Limpopo outMt Bloemfontein Celtic! The only outstanding issue, if the sale, believed to be over R40 million, is approved by the PSL, would be to buy the trademarked name still currently owned by recent Celtic owner Max Tshabalala. Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM), who also relocated to Bloemfontein last year, also considered renaming the club, with plans to buy the ‘Bloemfontein Celtic’ trademarked name from Tshabalala for a reported R5 million but their plans were scuppered after they were eventually relegated from the MFC.

Gallants to be renamed to accommodate Siwelele?

According to information filtering through to this publication. The consortium is currently engaging Celtic supporters in meetings with proposals to be officially endorsed.” Wrote the publication.

Celtic fans, would you be happy to return to the topflight through Swallows and Gallants?
