Trump narrows vice presidential field as national convention nears
Former President Donald Trump is likely considering a number of factors when it comes to naming his vice presidential running mate for the 2024 general election. Trump has reportedly narrowed his list to a handful of contenders to be his VP pick. A number of things that Trump is possibly thinking about would be a running mate who can help him bring in new fundraising and new donors to the campaign as it enters its final stretch. He's also possibly thinking about somebody who could help him with contingencies of voters with whom he struggled in the past. Like suburban women or voters of color, another consideration is somebody he can envision debating Vice President Kamala Harris on stage for an event that's already scheduled for later this year. The deadline for Trump to name his pick is the Republican National Convention, happening in July in Milwaukee. Whoever he picks as his vice president will be expected to stand with him on stage as well as give a speech of their own.
