McCarthy 'Hotter Than Hot Fish Grease!'
Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy has rattled off three straight 12-5 seasons, but in every year, the team has played poorly when it matters most.
After the Green Bay Packers massacre at AT&T Stadium in the Wildcard Round, Jerry Jones decided not to renew McCarthy's contract, leaving him without a future beyond 2024.
Given the current state of the franchise and its lack of playoff success, it is no wonder that McCarthy is under more pressure to deliver this season and former NFL player Damien Woody thinks McCarthy is on the hottest of hot seats entering 2024.
"Hotter than hot fish grease right now, as far as his seat is concerned,” Woody said on GetUp. “Dallas Cowboys got to at least get to an NFC Championship game. We’ve been talking about this thing now for years as far as the Dallas Cowboys are concerned. They’ve been to the Divisional round, at least get to the championship game, can you please do that?”

Now, having a lame-duck coach on the "hot seat" is the lowest of low-hanging fruit, but Woody isn't wrong and shares a similar thought not only with Cowboys fans but possibly Jerry and Stephen Jones, too.
The Cowboys' offseason has been one of continual confusion. From the lack of free agency dealings to the lack of progress on Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb's contracts, the blow-it-up theory is as real as it's ever been.
It is all pointing to a seismic shift in 2025, which CowboysCountry.com has been telling many for months now, and McCarthy could be part of the change. He, like every other coach at The Star who is on a one-year contract, knows the requirement for 2024, and Woody just outlined it.
Make an NFC Championship game or you're out.
And that equals the hottest of hot seats for "Big Mike."
