The match had fans on the edge of their seats as England trailed late on, until Jude Bellingham's sensational overhead kick levelled the score in the final moments of injury time to stop the Three Lions from heading home early. Harry Kane's extra-time header then sealed the deal, propelling the Three Lions into the quarter-finals.

Post-match, Prince William couldn't resist sharing his joy on @KensingtonRoyal, tweeting: "Emotional rollercoaster! Let's go @England! Quarter finals here we come! W."

The FA President also retweeted a heartwarming snap from the official England X social account showing Jude Bellingham planting a kiss on Harry Kane's forehead, reports the Express.

Even Prime Minister Rishi Sunak joined the online frenzy, posting during the game on X, formerly known as Twitter, with a hopeful "it's not over until it's over" following Bellingham's game-changing goal against Slovakia.

Fans rallied around Prince William's tweet, with one supporter commenting: "My heart can't take another like that." Another relieved fan remarked: "Exhausting viewing. Excellent result though! Well played lads! Onwards and upwards."

Commenting on the well-known England anthem from Euro' 96, an individual humorously exclaimed: "Oh my god William it's coming home."

And tempers were flaring on the pitch in Germany too. Declan Rice appeared to call the Slovakia head coach a 'bald c***' as tempers flared at the end of England's win over the minnows.

The Three Lions had to come from behind to claim a win in the Last 16 and set up a quarter-final tie with Switzerland. Rice played all 120 minutes in Gelsenkirchen in central midfield, with England forced to hold on towards the end of the game.

The Arsenal star was then involved in a furious bust-up with Slovakia head coach Francesco Calzona after the full-time whistle. Calzona had stormed over to the officials to confront them over a decision.
