Caitlin Clark Was One Stat Away From Making Even More WNBA History In Fever-Mercury
Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark nearly accomplished a historic milestone in the WNBA on Sunday when playing against the Phoenix Mercury.
Going into the fourth quarter, Clark needed just two more rebounds to achieve another significant accomplishment in her rookie season. This would have made her the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double.
Unfortunately, she was only able to grab one rebound in the final period, falling one short of making history. Clark finished the game with 15 points, 12 assists, and nine rebounds.
Earlier in the game, some history was made as the former Iowa Hawkeyes star broke the Fever's team record for most assists in a rookie season, passing former Indiana guard Julie Allemand.
Clark and the Fever defeated the Mercury by a final score of 88-82. This marked Indiana's first win of the season over a team with a record above .500.

With the win, the Fever moved past the Chicago Sky to fourth place in the Eastern Conference. They will look for their second straight win against the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday, July 2.
