Sven-Goran Eriksson revealed in January that he was terminally ill with cancerThe former England manager is intent on enjoying the time that he has leftHe says even his doctors don't know how long that will be at this time

Sven-Goran Erikkson admits he doesn't know how long he has left as even his doctors don't have the answer.

The former England manager stunned the world of football back in January when he announced that he had 'about a year' to live and was battling pancreatic cancer.

And he has given concerned fans an update on his health in his column for The Telegraph.

'If you ask the doctors how long I have left they can't answer,' the Swede wrote. Does that worry me? I think it's better not to know.

'On a day-to-day basis it's a little bit up and down. Some mornings I wake up feeling totally perfect. Well almost, and the other mornings it's a problem. But the good days are still here and I am fine.

'I have travelled all over Sweden, England, Italy and Portugal and I've had tears in my eyes so often at the kindness of people.

'You usually find that everybody talks well about people when they are dead. I am lucky that they talk well about me while I am alive.'

Eriksson led England between 2001 and 2006, reaching the quarter-finals of the 2002 and 2006 World Cup and as well the last eight of Euro 2004.

He revealed last week that David Beckham recently paid him a memorable visit at his farm.

Eriksson, 76, was Beckham's manager in the England national team for more than five years between 2001 and 2006.

Beckham served as the Three Lions captain during this time and the pair were said to be very close.

Their friendship has seemingly continued since then as they recently spent a day together on Eriksson's farm.

Speaking last week to Radio Sweden's P4 Varmland channel about his recent reunion with Beckham, Eriksson said: 'He came with six litres of wine from dates that were important to me.

'He had wine from 1948 – the year I was born, very nice of him. He is genuine, he could have been a big diva, but he is quite the opposite.'
