SEOUL, June 27 (Yonhap) -- Film 'Revolver', starring Jeon Do-yeon and Lim Ji-yeon, will join the summer movie lineup in Korea. Plus M Entertainment, the film's distributor, announced on the 27th that 'Revolver', directed by Oh Seung-wook, will be released on August 7th.
The movie tells the story of Ha Soo-young (played by Jeon Do-yeon), a former police officer who enters prison bearing all the sins of her past and emerges with a single purpose. Lim Ji-yeon portrays Jung Yoon-seo, who accompanies Soo-young. Her character's role is ambiguous—whether she is a helper or a watchdog for Soo-young.
Ji Chang-wook plays Andy, who promises to give money once Soo-young is released. Known as the "mad dog who wore perfume", Andy adds tension to Soo-young's journey. The film is directed by Oh Seung-wook, who was previously invited to the Cannes International Film Festival's Un Certain Regard section with his film 'The Shameless' (2015), where he worked with Jeon Do-yeon.

Summer is traditionally considered the peak season for theaters, with major studios typically releasing their tentpole movies during this time. This year, Korean tentpole films have started to release earlier, with Kim Sung-han's 'Hijacking' opening on June 21st, followed by Nam Dong-hyeop's 'Handsome Guys' the next day. Upcoming releases include Lee Jong-pil’s 'Escape' on July 3rd, 'Escape: Project Silence' on the 12th, and Kim Han-gyeol’s 'Pilot' on the 31st.
