Idea of transitioning energy to solar and wind is a ‘nonstarter’: Marc Morano
Now let's chat and get back to this, the op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, the green energy transition that wasn't Mark Murano is actually with us this time. Got him back. Alright Mark, why is fossil fuel use expanding even faster, even faster, even when green energy is so heavily subsidised? Well, there are many reasons, but the key reason is the endless demand for power from nations across the world, including the increases in demand from the developed world to the industrialized world and the developing world. And of course, China is leading the way with these massive increases of use of fossil fuel. Some estimates one to two coal plants per week that they're building. And the reason is that you can go back. We spent almost $2 trillion in in 2023 alone, and that's on top of, you could high estimate, hundreds of trillions if you go back to the 1980s when all this madness of trying to transition our energy began. But essentially, the more energy you have, the more energy you use. And they actually done studies on food buffets, the more food available, the more you're going to use. So even subsidizing solar and wind as small as it is compared to fossil fuels actually increases our energy demand for even more than that for food. So the idea of this idea of transitioning energy to solar and wind and getting us off fossil fuels and lowering emissions is a non starter. It's been a non starter for decades. Stewart, I've been to these UN summits, 19 out of the last 21 all over the world. And you can look at charts that show CO2 emissions, fossil fuel use continue to increase no matter what year of the United Nations summit, no matter whether it's the Paris Agreement or the Kyoto accord. We have flushed billions and trillions of dollars down for an energy transition that isn't happening. And here's the kicker, it's probably easier to transition your gender than it is your energy from fossil fuels to solar and wind. It's just, it's just very difficult to do from central planning. Did you see the in Denmark they've got a tax on farm animals because they, you know, they're gassy and they emit what is it, Co twos? They're going to tax it. What do you make of that? Yeah, this is part of a whole war. Remember the whole net zero agenda, It's very similar. You could argue Soviet style central planning, intentional rationing of energy, your freedom of movement, going after cars, higher airline costs. But when it comes to food, they're trying to ration not only the fertilizer, nitrogen based and go after high yield crops, but they've been coming after animal agriculture. And this is one of the reasons that the Netherlands farmers revolted form their own political party. They're coming after methane. So Denmark is doing this. But here's the real reason they're doing it to transition everyone to plant based meat. The government is doing it. So they're trying to make regular meat more expensive. So you tax cows, pigs, sheep, you're going to raise the cost just like airline taxes and climate compliance is raising travel. They're coming after cheap and available meat to force us in to this plant based lab grown and even insects. I'm coming out to a hard break, so I got to go. Mark Rana, thanks very much indeed. Thanks. Let's see Mulvaney after this.
