"Squid Game 2" teased at Lucca comics and games festival by Director and stars
"Squid Game" fans have something exciting to look forward to. The creator, writer, and director of the series, Hwang Dong-hyuk, along with stars Lee Jung-jae and Wi Ha-Jun, will be at the Lucca Comics and Games festival in Italy on October 31 to give a sneak peek of the show's second season.
The highly anticipated second season of this Korean survival drama is set to premiere on Netflix by the end of the year. According to promotional materials, the new season will focus on Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, making a crucial decision. Gi-hun, who won an Emmy for his role, decides to abandon his plans to go to the U.S. after receiving a mysterious phone call, leading him on a new mission.
Fans will also see the return of other popular characters from the first season, such as the Front Man (played by Lee Byung-hun) and the Recruiter (played by Gong Yoo). New cast members include Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, and Park Gyu-young.
Netflix has not yet confirmed if they will be showing full episodes or preview footage at the Lucca festival, but they did release a trailer for the second season in February.
Hwang Dong-hyuk, who made history as the first Asian to win an Emmy for outstanding directing in a drama series, is back in his role as director, writer, and producer for the new season.
The Lucca Comics and Games festival, taking place from October 30 to November 3, is a unique event held within the medieval walls of Lucca, a Tuscan town with well-preserved 16th and 17th-century ramparts. The festival attracts more than 200,000 attendees each year. This year's edition will also feature appearances by Japanese director Tatsuya Nagamine, known for his work on "One Piece" and "Dragon Ball Super: Broly."
