With the 30th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, the Boston Celtics selected Baylor Scheierman.
The 6-foot-6 wing has five years of college basketball experience and was an impactful member of a Creighton Bluejays team that made the NCAA Tournament in 2024.
A Celtics.com article written by Taylor Snow included quotes from Scheierman about being drafted by the Celtics and what he thinks he brings to the team.
Scheierman discussed what he likes about his game and what he believes he brings to the table for a Celtics team that does not have many holes in its roster.
“My ability to affect the game in a lot of ways whether that’s rebounding, whether that’s passing, whether that’s shooting, or just all-out competing,” Scheierman said. “Obviously they have a great team already, just coming off a championship, and so I’m just excited to join the group, get to work, and try to impact any way that I can.”
Scheierman talked about joining a historic franchise like the Celtics.
“Growing up, watching the Celtics win in 2008 with (Kevin) Garnett, (Paul) Pierce, and (Ray) Allen and then watching them win this year and them having the confidence to pick me,” Scheierman told Celtics.com. “They don’t just bring anybody into the organization, and so I’m very excited for the opportunity and just excited to get to work.”
Boston has the No. 54 overall pick in the draft as well. The second and final round of the 2024 NBA Draft is set to begin at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN.
