Erik ten Hag spent £210m on his first 5 Man Utd signings - none are first-team regulars
Erik ten Hag's future at Manchester United has finally been decided.
The Dutchman will remain at Old Trafford for the future following Sir Jim Ratcliffe's post-season review. Ten Hag is also closing in on a new contract with the Red Devils.
While he is set to stay, the same might not be said of a host of his Man United signings. Ten Hag has already made 16 signings since replacing Ralf Rangnick.
Some have certainly been more successful than others. There have been some shrewd moves and also some expensive mistakes. Take a look at what has happened to Ten Hag’s early recruits:
Tyrell Malacia
The first signing of the Ten Hag era at Man United, the young defender moved to Old Trafford for £13m from Feyenoord. The nine-time Netherlands international enjoyed a promising debut campaign with 39 appearances in all competitions.
But Malacia saw his second season ruined by injury. He did not appear at all last term. With two years left on his current deal, Malacia needs to return and stake a claim during the forthcoming season to prove he has a future as a Red Devil.

Christian Eriksen
A Premier League veteran, Eriksen was well-known to supporters upon his arrival at Old Trafford. He had shone for Tottenham before moving to Inter Milan.
The Danish playmaker was forced to leave the club after suffering a cardiac arrest during Euro 2020. Brentford took a chance on him by signing him on a free transfer.
Eriksen impressed with the Bees and earned a move to Old Trafford. The 32-year-old has made 72 appearances since then - 51 of which have been starts.
Eriksen saw his minutes dry up towards the end of last season and has consequently been linked with a move away. He has a year remaining on his contract.
Lisando Martinez
The first real big-money acquisition of the Ten Hag era, Argentine defender Martinez is arguably the most successful. The Red Devils paid over £56m for the Argentine.
He had impressed under Ten Hag with Dutch giants Ajax. Despite early doubts, Martinez claimed a role for himself in the Man United defence with 45 appearances across his debut season.
But like Malacia, Martinez saw his second campaign ruined by constant injury issues. Knee and foot problems limited him to just 14 outings last term. Should he steer clear of any more issues next term, he should be a key player under Ten Hag once again.

Casemiro
A £70m signing from Real Madrid, Brazilian midfielder Casemiro arrived at Old Trafford as a habitual winner. The five-time Champions League winner enjoyed an impressive debut campaign.
He scored seven goals throughout the season - a record that included a strike in the Carabao Cup final success against Newcastle. He couldn’t quite keep that up last season.
The Brazilian’s minutes dwindled and he has already been linked with an exit. Saudi clubs continue to keep tabs on the midfielder ahead of a potential big-money move.
The Red Devils remain keen on signing a new midfielder this summer - a bid having already been lodged for PSG star Manuel Ugarte - which could shove Casemiro down the pecking order even more.
Antony
Another huge signing, Ten Hag was fully aware of Antony’s talents having managed him at Old Trafford. An £85m fee took him to Old Trafford with hopes that the winger could replace Cristiano Ronaldo with the Red Devils.
But Antony has proven to be a disastrous recruit for Man United. He has scored just 11 goals in 82 appearances for the club - only five of which have come in the Premier League.
Reports have suggested that Red Devils’ chiefs are open to cutting their losses on the Brazilian wideman. It appears highly unlikely that they will receive even half of the huge fee that they originally signed him for.
