Jared Goff haters won't like where Lions QB lands in 'clutch' rankings

As we continue to stand on our soap box for Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff to be considered a top-10 quarterback in the NFL, we just got a bit more ammunition.

According to Carter Donnick, Goff was the second-most clutch quarterback in the NFL last season, falling behind only Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Dak Prescott.

In order to come up with that conclusion, he "weighed and combined 22 different QB statistics on" third and fourth downs within 14-point games, and any down in the fourth quarter within 10 point games. Of course, only passing was included.

What makes this funny is the fact that Goff is often labeled as someone who cracks under pressure, but these numbers would indicate otherwise. The Goff haters are in shambles right now.

In all seriousness, we have more than just a clutch rating to back up Goff being a top-10 signal-caller, something that is also often contested.

Goff ranks second, third, 10th and fifth in passing yards, scores, completion rate and yards per game, respectively, since 2022, and he has a Pro Bowl nod and an NFC Championship appearance under his belt in that span. Topping it all off, no quarterback in the conference has more playoff wins than Goff since 2016.

All of that should be more than enough to make the case for Goff being a top-10 quarterback, but his detractors remain steadfast in their belief he isn't.
