Fortnite’s best mode just got even better with Reload Duos

We hope you've packed a fan because it's getting pretty sweaty down in Tilted Towers. We've come a long way from the standard way of playing Fortnite. For those who remember the hype when Epic Games launched Zero Build, the battle royale is back in a big way thanks to its new Fortnite Reload mode.

While we've already reminded you Fortnite Reload isn't the OG mode that clickbait content creators billed it as, it's still a nostalgic whiff of how the game used to be once upon a time. Mixing together classic POIs, a smaller map, and no vehicles, Reload takes a leaf out of Warzone's Resurgence.

Fortnite Reload adds Duos

When Fortnite Reload launched on June 22, it was a Squads-only game. Despite being in its infancy, Epic has confirmed that Reload Duos is going live today (June 27). The news has gone down a storm online, as now you and your BFF can drop into Retail Row like the good ol' days.

With Reload pulling in over one million players on its opening weekend, it's clearly become many people's go-to mode. Epic will want to funnel more players into the spin-off, so adding more options is a surefire way to do that.

For those who don't have three pals to play with and refuse to fill with strangers, Reload just became a whole lot more accessible. There's no sign of Trios, but with HYPEX noting it's seemingly been added to the support files, we don't imagine it'll be far away.

Solos, we don't need Solos

Seemingly missing the point of Fortnite Reload, there's a legion of players asking for Solos. We're not sure if you get how it works, but the whole point of Reload is that your team stays in the game while one of you stays alive.

Supporters have pointed out how you could simply get a certain number of lives, while others are calling for a 40-player map that's smaller - hoping to amp up the tension. For those who refuse to play anything other than Solos, they're complaining that they're being locked out of Reload. Sorry, but there are plenty of other modes to play.

Others online have been avoiding Reload like the plague. It's become a sweatbox of competitive players, with someone writing on Reddit, "I just had a match where there were 37 people alive when the game turned revives off.

"There's no reason for this mode to be that sweaty. It legitimately blows my mind with how serious people are taking a mode that doesn't even count towards stats." Another added, "It feels like every random team I'm put in sucks literally more than a Dyson but every other team is like Jesus incarnate."

A third concluded, "I really dislike this mode. It essentially boxes out any casual players. If the answer is 'get good' you can stick a port-a-bunker where the sun don't shine. Casuals play to have fun and not to compete. Fortnite is normally very welcoming to casuals which is why we enjoy it so much and why FN is always at the top of the pile, but this is extremely sweaty."

Fortnite Reload seems to be the flavour of the month, and like Zero Build, which is still going strong so long after release, let's hope this one is sticking around for a little longer. Hopefully, the hype will die down, and we can actually get a win. In the meantime, if you can't handle the heat, you'd best stay out of the kitchen.
