Commanders & Giants: Projected To Be NFL's Two Worst Teams?
The Washington Commanders have reason to believe they are in the process of turning the corner from being awful to being ... not awful. The drafting of QB Jayden Daniels keys the optimism.
The New York Giants at this early stage are obliged to believe the same thing about themselves, maybe buoyed by the rather zany notion floated by Sports Illustrated that the G Men are "Super Bowl darkhorses.'' (Yes, SI's top guy really wrote that.)

But we say that in a division long ruled by the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles - both teams flawed but with rosters that are loaded when it comes to NFC East foes Washington and New York - reality is about to strike.
The Commanders are about to endure growing pains.
And the Giants are still bad.
And here we are, with Yahoo! ranking the Commanders and the Giants among the bottom five teams in the NFL via its preseason power rankings.
Training camps are on the horizon and right now, that woesome fivesome is made up of the Carolina Panthers, the New England Patriots, the Denver Broncos, Washington and New York.
The Giants did sign elite pass-rusher Brian Burns, and Nabers should help one of the league's worst offenses. And Daniels truly has a chance to be a revelation as the Commanders get a full break from the Dan Snyder era.
But the reality? Washington could get a little better. And New York could get a lot better. And both should still be projected to fight for who has to finish last in the NFC East.
