Marjorie Taylor Greene Melts Down Over Australian TV’s Trump Question, Gets Cut Off

Far-right Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) became increasingly irate on Tuesday when an Australian news anchor’s questions turned to former President Donald Trump and whether she would accept the result of the 2024 election if President Joe Biden wins.

Conspiracy theory-peddler Greene was ostensibly on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s “7.30” show to talk about her delight at Wikileaks founder Julian Assange’s release and return to Australia.

But she got testy whenever anchor Sarah Ferguson tried to turn the topic to the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.

Greene tried to goad Ferguson by asking if she was “a serious interviewer” and claiming she couldn’t be taken seriously.

Ferguson kept pressing, though, and toward the end of their exchange asked: “If it doesn’t go your way, if Biden wins, will you accept the result?”

Greene fired back: “Again, what does this have to do with Julian Assange? Seriously, that’s what we’re supposed to be talking about. What network is that? What is this? ABC in Australia? Is she getting her marching orders from the Democrat Party? I mean, like, is this what you decided to come up with today?”

Ferguson noted that Greene, once rumored to be a potential running mate for Trump, is “a prominent figure in U.S. politics” and the American presidential election is “on the minds not just of Americans, but of the whole world,” explaining her line of questioning as “a natural point of curiosity.”

“But I understand that we’ve reached the end of the questions that you want to answer,” she told Greene. “Thank you for talking to us about Julian Assange and for joining the program.”

Greene removed her mic and the interview ended.

On Thursday, Greene wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that she’s “always wanted to go” to Australia and is “sure the Australian people are wonderful just like the American people.”

She added, “The Australian press however, [sic] clearly mindless robots muttering the same stupid talking points from their government masters. Just like ours.”

Earlier this week, Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt’s interview with CNN’s Kasie Hunt was similarly cut short (albeit much, much sooner) after Leavitt refused to stop attacking Hunt’s colleagues Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, the moderators of the first Trump-Biden debate that the network is hosting in Atlanta on Thursday.

“You come on my show. You respect my colleagues. Period,” Hunt wrote on X afterward. “I don’t care what side of the aisle you stand on, as my track record clearly shows.”
