House of the Dragon: All of Helaena Targaryen's prophecies that have come true so far

*Warning - The following article contains spoilers from House of the Dragon seasons 1 and 2*

In the gripping first season of House of the Dragon, the ailing monarch Viserys (played by Paddy Considine) poses a poignant question: "What is the power of a dragon next to the power of prophecy?"

Despite her father's firm belief in the weight of prophecies, Helaena Targaryen (portrayed by Phia Saban) finds her ominous predictions fall on deaf ears within her own family.

As season 2 unfolds, Helaena's foresight proves chillingly accurate once more when her young son Jaehaerys meets a gruesome end, decapitated before her despite her veiled warning to her spouse and sibling, King Aegon Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney), about the lurking "rats" in their stronghold.

Yet, this isn't Helaena's inaugural brush with prophetic visions; she has consistently demonstrated her ability to foresee and predict pivotal events.

Helaena's role as a seer, while central to the HBO series' narrative, is an invention not found in George R. R Martin's original texts. And it seems inevitable that it's only a matter of time before someone recognises her remarkable talent.

Reflecting on Helaena's track record, let's revisit all her precise prophecies from the Game of Thrones prequel to date.

"He will have to close an eye."

In her first appearance on the show, Helaena Targaryen's prophecies made an immediate impact. As youngsters, Rhaenyra Targaryen's lads Jace and Luke, along with Alicent Hightower's eldest Aegon, successfully bonded with dragons, leaving Alicent's second son Aemond worried about not having a dragon of his own.

Alicent reassures him that he'll find his dragon soon, but Helaena ominously mutters: "He will have to close an eye."

Following this, Aemond gets into a tussle with Luke and ends up losing an eye to a knife wound. It's only after this loss that Vhagar, the largest dragon in Westeros, accepts him as her rider.

"Hand turns loom; spool of green, spool of black, dragons of flesh, weaving dragons of thread."

Helaena's infamous spider prophecy, hinting at the looming civil war between Team Black (Rhaenyra) and Team Green (Alicent), known as The Dance of the Dragons, was whispered to her brother and future husband Aegon while they watched a spider at Driftmark during Laena Velaryon's funeral.

"Beware the beast beneath the boards."

This chilling warning came from Helaena during a festive Targaryen feast in Season 1, Episode 8, The Lord of the Tides.

In the gripping episode titled The Green Council, as the factions known as the Blacks and Greens vie for control of the Iron Throne after Viserys' death, Rhaenys is visited by her mother Alicent. Despite her warnings about "the best", they are ignored.

The tension peaks when Rhaenys, mounted on her mighty dragon Meleys, bursts through the floor of the Dragonpit during Aegon's coronation, unleashing mayhem and mortality before flying off to join Rhaenyra's cause.

"I'm afraid ... Not of dragons. Of rats."

Helaena has consistently shown a deep-seated fear of rats throughout the first season, and in the second season's opening episode, she confesses her fears just days before Daemon Targaryen's chilling Blood and Cheese murder plot is revealed.

Even though she confides in her brother and spouse Aegon, Helaena's anxieties are dismissed.

This disregard leaves her exposed to the threat of Blood and Cheese, formerly a ratcatcher at the Red Keep, who infiltrate the castle aiming to retaliate for Luke's demise by killing his murderer, Helaena's other sibling Aemond.

Their hunt for Aemond proves unsuccessful, but they stumble upon Helaena and her twin children, Jaehaerys and Jaehaera. Under pressure, Helaena points out her son, Aegon's heir, then flees with her daughter, while Jaehaerys suffers a brutal fate.

What will Helaena foresee next? Be sure to stay tuned and pay attention to her predictions.

House of the Dragon season 2 airs in the UK on Mondays at 2am BST (British Summer Time) on Sky Atlantic and NOW. The same episode also airs again on Monday at 9pm.
