‘Very rare’ for Labor member ‘not to respect’ caucus solidarity: Penny Wong
Foreign Minister Penny Wong says it is “very rare” for a Labor member “not to respect” caucus solidarity.
Labor Senator Fatima Payman crossed the floor to vote against her party on a motion related to Palestinian recognition.
“We understand the importance of caucus solidarity,” Ms Wong told Sky News Australia.
“It is very rare for a Labor person not to respect that.
“It is a principle which has served us well, and we continue to believe that is the best way to ensure the election of and continuation of Labor government.”
