France: far-right National Rally collects 35% of vote intentions ahead of French elections
Days ahead of the first round of voting in France's parliamentary elections, polls indicates that the far right National Rally is still the front runner in the race. More than a week after the Republicans party chief Eric COT called for an electoral pact with Le Pen's party, voting intentions for the National Rally stand at 35%. This according to a poll by Efop published on Friday evening. The figure is up by 1% from the previous day. It would give the National Rally and its allies between 200 and 240 seats at the National Assembly, a figure below the 289 threshold required for an absolute, but one that is well above their 88 seats in the outgoing parliament. Currently in second place is the New Popular Front, a broad left wing alliance who have 29% of voting intentions according to the latest poll, the same percentage as on Thursday. 88% of those who polled in favour of the alliance said they were sure about their choice, the same amount as those supporting the National Rally and higher than the presidential party's 74% with 21.5% of voting intentions. Macron centrist alliance Together is in 3rd place. The first round of voting is scheduled for the 30th of June.
