Centenarians: Canada's oldest and fastest-growing demographic
I have never. Been gloomy about life at all. Every day has always been a joy, even though there's always something something to be happy about. I'm fine at my house, but when I'm outside I have to be a bit careful I don't like to be a burden on my friends, I like to be. I've always been very independent and it bothers me a bit that I. Have lost some of that independence. People are living longer and they're in many ways healthier than they've ever been. I mean, certainly this is a vibrant, vital population, but the issue is how we as a society. Are positioned to provide assistance and support when it's needed in later life. I do think that we need to have a commitment to really looking and addressing these things in ways that are open and transparent. And it does involve a lot of partnership, partnership across all the decision making stakeholders, you know, the interested parties. And we must listen to all the adults who are living through it. The optimist to me would like to think that our governments are finally going to start to realize. That. They need to take this this issue much more seriously and invest in programs. Either both around housing and around. Supporting people who are going to be caregivers in ways that we simply aren't doing right now. You have to enjoy each and every day because you don't know if you're going to have another one. So I think think you just have to get as much pleasure as you can out of every day.
