Jimmy Butler Makes Major Decision on Future With Miami Heat, per Report
Heat forward Jimmy Butler has two years remaining on his current contract with Miami, however, a player option included in his deal would allow him to become a free agent after the 2024-25 NBA season should he decide to go that route.
On Wednesday, amid recent rumors suggesting that Butler may be seeking an extension from Miami, NBA insider Shams Charania reported that the Heat veteran will not be signing a new deal this summer with the Heat or any other team.
"Jimmy Butler - he's going to play out next season under his current contract with the Heat," Charania reported.
"I'm told (Jimmy Butler) will not be signing an extension with the Heat or any other team ahead of his opt-out in 2025 free agency."
Butler, 34, recently completed his fifth season with the Heat.
The 13-year NBA veteran averaged 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 60 games played for Miami in 2023-24.

A name mentioned in plenty of trade rumors so far this offseason, Butler appears committed to playing out the 2024-25 NBA season in Miami.
