LeBron James is feeling the emotions as his son, Bronny James, prepares for the 2024 NBA Draft. The draft, which kicks off Wednesday night, will see top prospects from around the globe learn where they’ll start their professional basketball careers. Among these hopefuls is Bronny James, who aims to follow in his father's footsteps after a season at USC.
LeBron, a four-time NBA MVP, took to social media to share his pride and emotions about his son's journey. He reflected on the significance of raising his sons and guiding them through life’s challenges.
“Not a feeling in the (expletive) world better than being around raising my boys to MEN!” James posted on Instagram. “Pops over here getting emotional as hell just thinking about yall journey so far! Thank you both for allowing me to be your DAD and be apart of your compass through life’s trials and tribulations!”
LeBron has previously expressed a desire to play alongside Bronny in the NBA, but his agent, Rich Paul, recently clarified that this is no longer a priority. While the idea of father and son sharing the court remains a possibility, it’s not a certainty.
“Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be,” he said bak in 2022. “I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”
"If he does, he does. But if he doesn't, he doesn't,” Paul said. “There's no deal made that it's guaranteed that if the Lakers draft Bronny at 55, he [LeBron] will re-sign. If that was the case, I would force them to take him at 17. We don't need leverage. The Lakers can draft Bronny and LeBron doesn't re-sign. LeBron is also not going to Phoenix for a minimum deal. We can squash that now. There are other teams that love Bronny.”
Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 210 pounds, Bronny’s college stats may not place him among the top draft prospects, but he remains a notable figure due to his potential and lineage. Most mock drafts predict he will be selected late in the second round, with many speculating that the Los Angeles Lakers will pick him at No. 55.
