Uzzie 'couldn't stop lauging' at Afghanistan T20 act
Well, he's one of Australia's most revered batsmen and now legendary cricketer Ozma Kawaja is ditching the baggy green to try his hand at a new profession. One of a barista. Well, not not completely. I'm completely I am just telling you right now, I'm completely fangirling right now. I I love watching this man go about his business. We're pleased to say he joins us in the studio. Ozma Kawaja, Ozzy, good morning to you. Thanks for having me, guys. I tell you what, it's, it's quite the transition. I mean, I've, I've had plenty to drink while I've been watching you back before, but never a coffee. Tell me about your next venture. I mean, I was working doing some stuff at Amazon Prime, the official broadcast of the T20 World Cup. It's in the morning. Who doesn't love a coffee? We're Australians, right? We're the biggest knobs in the world. Trust me, I've been around the world. We are the biggest knobs. So let's try my hand coffee. I'm not the worst. I'm not the worst. I reckon you might do better than me. I tried to make a coffee yesterday, didn't there's? Alright, alright, alright. The T20 was. I mean, this is a bit of a lottery, isn't it? When you go to these T20 World Cups. So how did you? How did you? You see it all. No, you're 100% right, Carl. It is a lottery in a lot of respects. We say it's a lottery because one person can win your game in T20 cricket. In Test cricket, it's impossible for one person to win your game for so long. But I mean, I felt a little felt a little bad for the bar boys because we played so well the whole way through and we lost that game. Afghanistan, who are a decent team, right? They're a decent team and that just cost us. It just hurt. And that one game that's, you know, what we've been really good at is winning crunch movers and T20 World Cups and World Cups in general, actually. Yeah. So I mean, we're not used to seeing Aussies not make the semi finals. But yeah, I'm really excited to see Afghanistan there anyway. Yeah. I mean, it's absolutely it's it's upsetting for Australian crimes, but there was a lot of good cricket riot. I mean, and there was some controversy. You mentioned Afghanistan, of course, they've been accused of delay using delaying tactics. He had a bad hamming. Is that a thing? Nothing in it, Nothing in it. You've seen that video as well. I couldn't stop laughing, You know what I mean? It's all about sport being an entertainment that is entertainment. Look, you know, also we did beat India, you know, in the in the 50 over game. Well, I mean, that hurt so much for India. So, look, watching them play is something extraordinary. And there's so much to look forward to, you know, coming up this summer as well. Right? Yeah. I mean, there's still the semi finals are still big. India's there. I mean, I'd love to see an underdog Afghanistan make it to the final. I think it'd be awesome. But then, yeah, massive summer for us. India's, you know, the two biggest tours for us are India and England, like they always are. And India is huge. And they've beaten us the last two times they've come to Australia, which I know stings the Australian population, which stings the boys too. So it's one of those things where, all right, let's let's let's try to restore the balance. Let's win at home. So it's a big series. Look, there's prime. There's prime ads on the TV. I've gotta tell you, they are very disturbing. My 4 year old just completely lost. I mean, obviously I watch you a lot and stalk you during the summer. He does. But he for the prime ad was a very scary ad for a four year old. And how did you go at home with it? I mean, I I just had to act real scared, which is easy. I just I just thought of my wife. Oh my God, I'm just joking, mate. Can she have a conversation? Happy wife, happy life. Yes, ma'am. Alright, I can make her a cup of good coffee. No, no, honestly, it was a lot of, I had a lot of fun doing the ads and I think one of the funnier ones was the social media when we'd done Doctor Oz. I'm not sure if you've seen Doctor, Have you seen it? No, go watch it. Doctor Oz is probably one of my favourites. I think it's hilarious. Alright, gearing up for the summer ahead. We we love seeing it. I can't wait to watch you bat again, mate. Thanks so much for coming in, Richard. Thank you. Good to see you mate.
