Stephen King's Donald Trump election prediction with author warning Americans to 'prepare for it'

Legendary author Stephen King has made his prediction for the upcoming presidential election

With the 2024 election campaign gathering steam, famed author Stephen King has thrown in his two cents about the outcome and it's not what Donald Trump's fans want to hear. Touted as the most crucial election in recent times by pundits, the anticipated battle will see President Joe Biden and former President Trump go head-to-head once more, clashing over democracy, the economy, and abortion rights.

King, who declared his allegiance to the Democratic Party back in 1970, hasn't shied away from lambasting Trump, a stance he's held since before the 2016 election.

The writer, whose bibliography contains hits like The Shining and Pet Sematary, is no stranger to airing his views against the GOP figurehead on social media. This Tuesday, he took to X to announce: "Trump is going to lose. Prepare for it."

Over 2.5 million views have been clocked on King's bold proclamation. True to form, the post stirred up controversy among the social media users. Among the dissenters was conservative activist Scott Presler, who challenged King with a simple retort: "Wanna bet?."

Presler has taken credit for playing a part in Hillary Clinton's defeat in the 2016 election, gaining notoriety through his cleanup events which began in Baltimore following Trump's description of the city as a "disgusting, rat and rodent-infested mess."

The ages and cognitive abilities of both Biden and Trump have been hot topics in the run-up to the election. One X user bluntly stated: "Joe Biden has dementia. Accept it." "Stephen King is going to lose his mind when Trump wins. Prepare for it," another person predicted on the platform.

A different individual anticipated a decisive victory: "Trump is going to win in a landslide and return America to normalcy." However, not everyone was rallying behind Trump; some shared King's view. A tweet read: "He sure will [lose]! There's no chance he will win! We are so ready!"

Another user, referencing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, remarked: "Lose in every sense of the word. Like Alex Jones lose. ( remember, the FBI has 2 years of Jones phone data) 'twill be glorious."

Echoing a sentiment of relief, someone commented: "A lose for Trump is a win for the USA and the whole world!" And with a touch of certainty, another added: "Oh yeah. He going down," accompanied by a GIF of a burning blimp.

Current polls indicate a close race for the 2020 White House rematch, with Biden and Trump either statistically neck-and-neck or holding slight leads in various surveys.

However, FiveThirtyEight's latest figures show Biden just nudging ahead of Trump. The daily average of presidential polls has him leading just 0.2 percent, with 40.9 percent of the projected vote compared to Trump's 40.7 percent as of June 25. Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr has 9.4 percent of the support, meanwhile.

Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for Trump, hit back at the numbers, telling Newsweek: "RealClearPolitics says you're wrong. Their 5-way shows President Trump leading."
