Reaction to Georgia's 2-0 win against Portugal at Euro 2024

GELSENKIRCHEN, Germany - Reaction after Georgia's 2-0 victory against Portugal in their Euro 2024 Group F match on Wednesday:

Portugal manager Roberto Martinez: "We didn't underestimate Georgia, but Georgia were playing the game of their history ... and we were playing the last game when we were already top of the group. It was difficult for us to match the same intensity."

Man of the match Khvicha Kvaratskhelia: "I think there was no individual best player, it was a team. We have made history and no-one would believe that we would beat Portugal. But we showed everyone that the Georgian team can make it happen.

"This is the best day in my life."

Portugal winger Pedro Neto speaking to UEFA.com: "The lessons that we take from this game is that we cannot go easy in any game. We started in almost a difficult way because we started almost losing and then after the second goal they became more compact and difficult to score against."

Georgian journalist Dato Lobjanidze to BBC 5 Live: "This is unbelievable. There was a similar experience to this back in March when Georgia qualified for the tournament but this is bigger. Tbilisi is not going to sleep tonight!" REUTERS
