Coup attempt in Bolivia as armored vehicles surround presidential residence

ALBAWABA- Reports indicate that armored vehicles have been spotted around the residence of the Bolivian President in the capital, La Paz. The Bolivian president has warned of irregular troop movements and condemned the illegal actions of some army units, urging respect for democracy.

A tank reportedly stormed the presidential residence in what appears to be a coup attempt led by the army chief.

Reuters has cited a military general stating, "There will be a new government, and the army still recognizes the president as commander of the army."

Former Bolivian President Evo Morales has issued a warning against the army taking further action to launch a military coup.

Meanwhile, the army has blocked several central streets in La Paz and occupied the square in front of the government building.
