NHL Rumor Roundup: June 26, 2024
I'm Lyle Richardson in The Hockey News, the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers certainly gave us hockey fans a Stanley Cup final for the ages. With the Panthers emerging victorious and a hard fought 7 game series, the focus now shifts towards the offseason plans for both these clubs. The Panthers. They have 11 players due to become unrestricted free agents on July 1st, with Sam Rinehart and Brandon Montour the most notable. Now it's believed that the Panthers could sign Reinhart to a. Long term deal that is worth slightly less than market value, perhaps between 9 and 10 million per season. But Montor may end up departing as a free agent unless the Panthers can free up sufficient cap space to resign him. Meanwhile, in Edmonton, the entire focus this summer will be on Leon Dry Seidel's future. He has one year remaining on his contract with an average annual value of 8.5 million, and therefore is due for a significant raise if the Oilers hope to resign him before his UFA eligibility next summer. You can read all about this in my latest NHL Rumor Roundup column.
