Canada’s Leylah Fernandez advances to Eastbourne Invitational quarterfinals

Canada’s Leylah Fernandez cruised into the Eastbourne Invitational quarterfinals with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Ashlyn Krueger of the United States on Wednesday.
Fernandez, ranked 30th in the world, saved all five break points she faced against the world No. 79 in the second round of the Wimbledon tune-up event in England.
It marks the second straight quarterfinal appearance for Fernandez and the third tournament in a row in which she has won at least two matches.
The native of Laval, Que., will face the winner of a match between Sofia Kenin of the U.S. and Harriet Dart of Great Britain.
