XL Bully ripped my testicles off then 'seriously disturbed' seven-stone beast attacked my ex-partner too

Lynsey Kelly said the XL Bully, Envie, attacked her ex-boyfriend's groin and armsHe was rushed to Chesterfield Royal Hospital for an emergency operationThe mother was also left with two holes in her leg & it has since been put down

A man’s testicles were ripped off by a seven-stone XL Bully, leaving him needing eight stitches in his groin.

The dog called Envie, described as ‘big, bold and beautiful’, has since been seized by police and destroyed after multiple attacks.

Lynsey Kelly said her family had bought the seven-stone animal from local resident Mikey Howe, who had previously featured on the Jeremy Kyle TV show.

He had sold the unwanted two-year-old hound to her 16-year-old daughter Evie for £20 after the teen had taken a shine to it while taking it for a walk.

But within days the menacing dog turned on Ms Kelly and her ex-boyfriend Darren Thrower, who was helping to try to control it.

Reliving her ordeal, she told how Envie had first savaged glass fitter Darren, 39, whom she is still pals with, biting his arms and groin.

He was rushed to Chesterfield Royal Hospital for an emergency operation, and required 40 stitches for his horrific injuries.

Later that day the Bully attacked her, puncturing her left shin in two places.

She said: ‘It just went for me, grabbing my leg and shaking it. It was terrifying.’

Ms Kelly managed to lock the beast in a room before escaping through the window of another room.

She required hospital treatment too and later reported the attacks to police.

Ms Kelly, who suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and walks with a support stick, told how Envie had suddenly snatched it when she first took her out after getting her in mid-October.

She was shaken up after the dog grabbed her stick and she called Darren to help her.

After trying to calm the dog down, and returning her to Lynsey’s home, it then attacked him, first latching onto his arm and then his groin.

Ms Kelly said: ‘He was trying to fight the dog off and he was wrestling on the ground with it. It was awful to see.

‘He needed 32 stitches in his arm and eight in his private parts. It has affected him badly, and he suffers from post-traumatic stress after losing his mum in a car accident four years ago which he survived.’

She added: ‘It was my daughter who had wanted the dog but after this, we knew we couldn’t keep her. She was too strong and too dangerous.’

The mother-of-one has been left with two horrific wounds to her leg.

Ms Kelly, 46, now back home in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, after being re-admitted to hospital for a second time with complications to her injuries, said: ‘My leg is still not healed and I have two big holes in it.’

She said: ‘The dog has been put down, it was the best thing for her before she attacked again or even killed someone.

‘The dog was bonkers and went for almost anyone it came into contact with. I think it had been poorly treated in the past.’

Ms Kelly spoke out as the controversial breed is set to be banned in Britain by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak within days.

Despite her savaging, she believes Bullies should not be outlawed but ‘some people should be stopped from owning them’.

She said: ‘In the right home, a loving and caring one, these dogs can behave but in the wrong home they can be dangerous, and I think this dog had been badly mistreated in the past.

‘She was only two and had two litters of puppies. She was big, bold and beautiful and I think her only purpose was to breed and not be a loving pet or companion.’

‘She became manic and kept grabbing everything and anyone in sight. She seemed seriously disturbed.’

After five days, Ms Kelly returned Envie to Mikey and his partner Sarah May. They reluctantly took back the dog, but didn’t return the token fee paid.

When approached by MailOnline, jobless Mr Howe told how he had also been attacked by Envie and was frank about how dangerous and uncontrollable the dog was.

He admitted: ‘She had moments of madness and went crazy. She attacked almost everyone it saw, even me.’

Showing bite wounds to his lower left arm where the dog had bitten him, he said: ‘We don’t often agree with the law but on this occasion we do. The Bully breed should be banned before it attacks and kills more people.’

The dog then allegedly attacked two workers from an animal rescue centre who had arrived to assess whether she was suitable for rehoming after Mr Howe said he couldn’t take her back for his own safety.

He said: ‘I blame the owners, not that we were bad ones, we were just looking after the dog for a while for a mate.’

Alarmingly he revealed that the animal had been through six previous owners – who were all unable to control it – but had still bred two litters of puppies.

He explained: ‘I got Envie off my mate, at first she was a good dog, she was two years old, she’d had six other owners, we were the seventh.

‘But she wasn’t a forever dog, we were just looking after her for a bit, and we didn’t pay for her, we only had her for five weeks.

‘She’d been pregnant for the second time and when she had the new pups they were taken away from her too soon and I think it messed up her head. They were taken off her too early.

‘She was a massive dog and a beauty, but had moments of madness. She was a mad b***h.’

Mr Howe, who with his girlfriend survives on state benefits, told how he was viciously attacked by his loan dog on several occasions.

He explained: ‘The dog attacked me, once on the bus in front of everyone, going for my neck and a few times at home. She went well mad but I didn’t report it to police.

‘On the bus, an alarm went off and the dog looked up and suddenly went for me. I had a hoodie on which helped protect my neck.

‘Another time at home I jumped up to close a top window and the dog pounced on me, pinning me against the window. I tried to shake her off but she bit me on the arm, it didn’t need stitches but I still have the scar.’

He has owned Staffie dogs before but never a Bully breed, saying: ‘It was a bit scary. It seemed any sudden movement or noise set her off.’

Following the spate of attacks, the couple decided to rehouse the difficult pet with a foster-based dog rescue service.

Mr Howe told how Envie was picked up by two woman handlers and placed in kennels but had gone on to attack one of them, and later another dog handler.

He said: ‘They told us that the dog had just flipped. It proved what a dangerous dog she was but we don’t blame the poor dog, it’s the owners who had her before.

‘I think she was used to breed because so many people want a Bully pup.

‘They’re cute and a status symbol and people pay the price.’

He said: ‘Cops told us she had been humanely put down. We’re gutted for the dog but it was the best thing.

‘Those dogs are mad and need to be culled or controlled.’

Reacting to the attacks on Darren and Lynsey, he said: ‘That’s terrible news. We heard the dog had gone for his b***s and ripped at them and later went for her. That’s horrible.’

He said Lynsey and her daughter had ‘liked the dog and had kept her for a few days’.

He claimed: ‘We didn’t sell her because she wasn’t really ours, and when they returned her they said she had been fine and as good as gold and said nothing about any attack.

‘We found out from the nearby shop.’

Ms May told how Envie, during their brief care, had never gone for her.

She said: ‘The dog never attacked me, I was the one who helped calm her down.’

XL Bully doss will be banned in England and Wales from the end of this year, the Government has confirmed.

New rules due to come into force on December 31 will make it illegal to breed, sell, advertise, exchange, gift, re-home, abandon or allow XL Bully dogs to go stray.

Owners will also have to muzzle the dogs under a law change laid in Parliament.

Those wanting to keep their dogs will have until the end of January to register them with the list, and will then have to comply with strict requirements to keep them – including the requirement to muzzle them and keep them on a lead in public.

Owners without a certificate of exemption will face a criminal record and an unlimited fine if they are found to be in possession of an XL Bully as of February 1, 2024.
