kcr stable, pain-free after surgery: doctors share ex-telangana cm’s health update

Days after losing the Telangana chief minister’s chair, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, had a fall that landed him at the hospital, requiring a hip replacement surgery. Now, after the surgery, doctors treating the former chief minister say he is stable, pain-free, and has spent the day resting.

According to a medical bulletin from the private hospital where KCR is admitted, the once-face of the Telangana movement is “medically stable”. “He is pain free and rested well through the day. He is being continuously assessed and monitored…” the medical bulletin says further.

K Chandrasekhar Rao had been hospitalised in the early hours of Friday, December 8. He reportedly suffered a fall at his farmhouse in Erravalli. The 69-year-old former chief minister suffered a hip bone fracture, news reports say.

Doctors had initially said that the recovery process would take six to eight weeks. Following the surgery, KCR’s daughter K Kavitha had said that the surgery was successful and her father was fine.

The hospital had said that KCR was found to have a left hip fracture and would require a left hip replacement for the same.

After he was hospitalised, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a post on X: “Distressed to know that former Telangana CM Shri KCR Garu has suffered an injury. I pray for his speedy recovery and good health.”

The accident took place only four days after KCR’s party was ousted from power in Telangana. The BRS chief won his own seat from Gajwel, but lost to the BJP candidate in Kamareddy. The BRS could only secure 39 out of the 119 seats in contest, whereas the Congress secured 64.
