As a major winter storm moves across the state, Interstate 80 is closed in both directions in central Nebraska.
I-80 is closed between Kearney and Lexington due to “white out conditions,” according to the Nebraska State Patrol.

The state patrol advised drivers to “park and wait out these dangerous weather conditions,” in a post on social media.
Road conditions: Limited visibility, slick spots in Omaha area as snow falls Monday
The Omaha area could see 5 to 10 inches of heavy, wet snow, with higher snow totals possible north and west of the metro. Western Iowa could see 4 to 8 inches of snow.
Meteorologist Bill Randby says road conditions in the metro will start to deteriorate quickly around 7 to 9 p.m. once temperatures drop a few degrees.

A winter storm warning remains in effect for eastern Nebraska and western Iowa until 12 p.m. Tuesday.
By Tuesday morning, the north wind will ramp up, gusting 40+ mph, leading to blowing/drifting snow and continued hazardous driving conditions.
