Immigration nabs 10 foreigners for begging in Bangsar
PETALING JAYA: Tens foreign nationals have been detained by the Immigration Department near Masjid Saidina Abu Bakar Mas on Jalan Ara, Bangsar in Kuala Lumpur on Friday (Jan 12).
Immigration director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh said the operation was carried out at 12.15pm following complaints about people begging in the area.
Those detained were aged from two and 41 years old. Among those rounded up are three Indonesians (two men and one woman), Myanmar nationals (one man and two women) as well as four Myanmar children (two boys and two girls).
During the operation, three locals were also checked and later released.
The foreigners were arrested for committing offences under the Immigration Act and Immigration Regulations.
They are being detained under Section 51(5)(b) of the Immigration Act and placed at the Semenyih Immigration depot for further investigation and action.
