Jarryd Hayne breaks his silence with State of Origin message after fallen footy legend saw six-year criminal rape ordeal end

Jarryd Hayne has broken his social media silence to send a message to footy friend Latrell Mitchell on State of Origin night.

Hayne, 36, was told this week that he will not face a fourth criminal trial for allegedly raping a woman after an appeal against his conviction was successful, although a civil legal suit still hangs over his head.

After winning back his freedom earlier this month, Hayne has kept a low profile as he has reintegrated himself into life with his family.

But on Wednesday night he resurfaced on social media with a two-word message during New South Wales' huge win over Queensland at the MCG.

'Trelly mitt!!!' Hayne posted on Facebook as Blues superstar Latrell Mitchell ran riot during a dominant first half display.

Souths fullback Mitchell, 27, had been brought back into the fold by Michael Maguire for the crucial second game, with nothing less than victory required for the Blues to keep the series alive.

Mitchell played his role in the centres to a tee as NSW beat Queensland 38-18, sending the series to a decider in Brisbane in three weeks.

Hayne is fully aware of the pressures of Origin, having played in the bruising series on 23 occasions. He was part of the Blues team's drought-ending series win in 2014, the same year he won his second Dally M medal.

Elsewhere, Mitchell Moses rewarded the bold selection choice of Blues coach Michael Maguire on Wednesday night, despite missing two months of the season with a foot injury.

With first-choice NSW halfback Nathan Cleary unavailable for the series due to a hamstring injury, the 29-year-old Moses replaced Nicho Hynes in the NSW No.7 jersey for game two as Maguire looked for more polish in attack.

Despite struggling to recapture his best form for Parramatta since his lay-off, Moses showed the sparkle that makes him one of the NRL's most creative playmakers.

Moses delivered an almost flawless display in the Blues' 38-18 thrashing of Queensland to level the series and win the player-of-the-match medal.

He had four try-assists among their haul of seven and kept the Queenslanders on the back foot, kicking for 431 metres.

Not normally known for his steely defence, he twice forced a knock-on by Maroons five-eighth Tom Dearden with heavy tackles.

Former NSW coach Phil Gould, who steered the Blues to a 14-0 victory in the first Origin match ever played at the MCG back in 1994, said Moses had 'come of age'.

'Absolutely stellar,' Gould said in commentary.

'He's (Moses) come of age on the representative scene tonight.

'He's running the show.'

Ex-Blues halfback Andrew Johns went further, saying it was the best game Moses had played in any arena.
