Which players are most likely to sign for Barca this summer?

There’s still a few days until the summer transfer window opens for business, but that hasn’t stopped a number of players from across Europe being linked with a move to Barcelona.

With Hansi Flick now in charge targets may have changed, so let’s take a look at the likelihood of whether some of the rumoured names will sign for the club or not...

Nico Williams

which players are most likely to sign for barca this summer?

Given his age and obvious talent, Nico Williams would arguably be a dream signing for Barca.

With him on one side and Lamine Yamal on the other - for club and country - the Catalans could be a force to be reckoned with in attack.

An expensive release clause means this isn’t an easy deal to do and that’s probably the only thing stopping it at this point. (Likelihood of signing: 5/10)

Luis Diaz

The Liverpool man apparently already has his bags packed for Catalonia, with his dad having previously let slip he’d love to play for Barca.

Nothing has yet been confirmed as to whether he will form part of Arne Slot’s plans, so there’s a possibility he moves on.

However, if he’s not good enough for Liverpool, he certainly isn’t good enough for Barca. (4/10)

Joao Felix

Barcelona know exactly what they’re getting with Joao Felix. When he’s on his game he is still a wonderful player to watch and a match winner, however, those moments are few and far between.

Is something going on behind the scenes with Jorge Mendes that has wider implications? Almost certainly and, rightly or wrongly, it will be no surprise to see him continue for another season. (9/10)

Jeremie Frimpong

which players are most likely to sign for barca this summer?

Frimpong is supposedly Hansi Flick’s ‘priority signing’ this summer.

The Dutchman is certainly expected to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer and therefore Barcelona would have as good a chance as any of securing him if he believes in the project.

Can Joan Laporta and Deco really risk not being able to land the major target that their new manager has asked for? (9/10)

Joao Cancelo

Along with Joao Felix, a player that already knows what it’s like to pull on the Blaugrana shirt, and Joao Cancelo has readily admitted he would love to do so again.

If Barca sign Frimpong, however, that leaves huge question marks as to the retention of Cancelo. (5/10)

Dani Olmo

A player with a Barcelona past and one who has admitted he really isn’t averse to a return to the club. Almost certain to leave Leipzig but unless Barca can negotiate a price cheaper than his release clause then this one is dead in the water. (3/10)

Xavi Simons

Another who has seemingly made noises to alert the Blaugranes to his availability, and he has made it clear to PSG that he wants another loan move for next season.

Yet talk of a move to Barcelona has gone quiet recently and another season in the Bundesliga, at RB Leipzig or Bayern, seems his most likely move as things stand. (3/10)

Bernardo Silva

A long-time favourite of the club and a player that would slot into the squad seamlessly. Given that the club can’t afford his release clause - which expires at the end of this month - this is a definite no-go. (0/10)

Assane Diao

Real Betis have reportedly offered the 18-year-old to Barca for €15m. As a low cost alternative to the other names for the left-wing slot he would make financial sense, however, his lack of experience goes against him. (2/10)

Mikel Merino

A player that has vaguely hinted at a move away from Real Sociedad, as he heads into the final year of his contract. Doesn’t seem in any rush to move on but a decision will need to be made if he doesn’t agree a new deal. (2/10)

Joshua Kimmich

which players are most likely to sign for barca this summer?

He could prove an expensive acquisition but there’s no doubting his quality and he’s someone Hansi Flick knows well.

Barcelona have tried to sign him on a number of previous occasions, and with his contract expiring next summer he could finally bid farewell to Bayern. The Bundesliga giants are also thought to be keen on Ronald Araujo which means there’s a chance the two clubs could do business. (6/10)

Bruno Guimaraes

Apparently the dream signing for Deco, but that’s all it will remain. A dream.

A huge release clause puts him out of Barcelona’s financial reach even if Newcastle do need to sell players this summer to comply with Premier League profit and sustainability rules (0/10)
