Dell Unifies XPS Lineup with Sleek New AI-Powered XPS 14 and XPS 16 Laptops
To unify the look and feel of its XPS laptops, Dell is taking inspiration from last year’s XPS 13 Plus and applying its sleek design language across the range. Unveiling two new laptop sizes at CES 2024, the XPS 14 and XPS 16, Dell is not only “unifying the design” but is also extending the design language across the XPS line and has even announced that it is renaming the XPS 13 Plus to the XPS 13. These new ultrabooks combine modern features and specs with a unified aesthetic.

The latest Dell XPS 14 and XPS 16 models are offered in Graphite and Platinum finishes, showcasing a cutting-edge design crafted from CNC-machined aluminium and Gorilla Glass 3. Both laptops have super sleek bezels, increasing the screen real estate in roughly the same body and feature an ultra-slim, minimalist keyboard with edge-to-edge keys, a touch function row that enables seamless toggling between media and function keys, and haptic feedback for an enhanced typing experience.
Apart from the major design overhaul, the new Dell XPS 14 and XPS 16 come equipped with newer and more powerful chipsets along with a suite of new AI-enabled features to help deliver cutting-edge performance.

The XPS 14 boasts a 14.5-inch display with a 3.2K touchscreen option and can be configured with up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 165H CPU with NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPUs (up to the RTX 4070) and up to 64GB of RAM and 4TB of storage. It also features a larger 69.5Whr battery and weighs 3.8 pounds with the optional OLED display configuration.
In contrast, the XPS 16 is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor, offering a maximum configuration of 64GB RAM, a capacious 4TB SSD, and the option for an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 with 8GB of GDDR6. The laptop also gets a sizable 99.5WHr battery and a robust 130W USB-C charger. With the optional 16.3-inch 4K OLED display, the laptop reaches a weight of 4.8 pounds.

Both laptops are also NVIDIA Studio-validated systems, “meaning they deliver industry-leading performance for demanding creative tasks such as 3D rendering, video editing, and live streaming, while offering exclusive access to the Studio AI-powered suite of tools and enhanced stability with NVIDIA Studio Drivers.” They also come with NPUs (Neural Processing Units), specialised processors tailored for handling AI workloads and a dedicated AI acceleration engine, which offloads processing from CPUs and GPUs.
“Imagine you are a creator who is always on the go and editing photos in Adobe Lightroom. This new technology automatically leverages the right compute engine for your workload, in this case letting you edit images faster than before while preserving battery life,” says Dell. The company is yet to reveal the official pricing and release date for its new XPS line but we can expect these to launch sometime later this year.
