Full Euro 2024 bracket as England handed massive advantage for winning group

The Euro 2024 knockout picture is now clear with England sitting very pretty in their half of the draw.

The Three Lions have massively underperformed so far in the tournament, but topped Group C with five points and joined the likes of Spain and Germany as nations to win their group, thus giving them easier ties in the last 16.

England will face Slovakia on Sunday with Spain facing Georgia and Portugal, another group winner, taking on Slovenia, who were one of the best third place outfits.

France though have proved to be an outlier. Les Bleus were heavily tipped to top their group, but were undone by Austria. Had they won their group they'd have been in the same half of the draw as England but instead have ended up on the heavyweight side of the draw.

Four of the six highest ranked sides in Europe are all in the same half of the knockout bracket - meaning they'll have to negotiate some tough matches if they are to make it to the final in Berlin on July 14.

Gareth Southgate though, whilst keen not to underestimate any of his opponents, is poised to see his side come up against teams they'll be fancied to beat. Switzerland, 19th, Slovakia, 45th and Romania, 47th are some of the ranked sides in England's half of the draw.

Potential quarters and semis

In terms of viewing, the top half of the draw is set to produce some stunning games come the last eight. If predictions are right then we'll have ourselves a Spain - Germany clash as well as one featuring Portugal and France.

The winners of those two matches will then compete in a semi-final on July 9 in Munich. England meanwhile, should they see off Slovakia, will face the winner of Italy's clash with Switzerland. The defending champions scored a late equaliser against Croatia to ensure their progression.

The knockout draw will see England dodge the top ranked nations until the final

Romania will face the Netherlands in a last-16 tie. Ronald Koeman's side are by no means the force of old, but are the highest ranked side other than the Three Lions in the English half of the draw. Romania are among those to have impressed, especially in qualifying, and could pose a genuine threat.

Talking of impressive outfits, Austria have perhaps been the surprise of the tournament. Ralf Rangnick has got a tune out of his team and they topped France in Group D. Turkey will be their opponents and the winner with face either the Dutch or Romania.

The winner of that would take on one of England, Slovakia, Italy or Switzerland in Dortmund on July 10. The Three Lions have previously benefitted from favourable draws in other tournaments and look to have dodged the majority of the elite outfits until the final, should they get there.
