Shubman Gill will lead Team India in the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe in July. A legend in the making, Gill is expected to take over the charge of Team India in all formats in the future and he will make his captaincy debut against Zimbabwe. Nitish Reddy came into prominence while playing for SRH in IPL 2024. Referred to as the next Hardik Pandya of Indian cricket, Reddy can contribute in both departments. He scored 303 runs and scalped 3 wickets in the season.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson are the only two players from the T20 WC squad who have retained their position in the team for the Zimbabwe tour. The selectors have surprisingly dropped Yuzvendra Chahal, who has been on the bench in the ongoing ICC event. Yashasvi and Samson too have been on the bench.

India and Zimbabwe will play five T20Is on July 6, 7, 10, 13 and 14. All the fixtures will be played at the Harare Sports Club in Harare. Team India will travel to Sri Lanka after the Zimbabwe series.

VVS Laxman, the present chairman of NCA, is likely to travel to Zimbabwe as the head coach. Rahul Dravid's stint as the head coach ends after the 2024 T20 World Cup while there is no official word on Gautam Gambhir's appointment yet.
