Russian occupiers launched an attack on Ukrainian territory on the night of June 22 using various types of missiles and kamikaze drones. A large-scale air raid alert was declared twice across the country, and reports of hits were confirmed in the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Volyn regions.

For more details on the consequences of this combined air attack by Russia, read the report by RBC-Ukraine.

What is known about the attack

Initially, on the evening prior, Russian terrorists launched at least two groups of Shahed-type attack drones at Ukraine. They entered the country’s airspace from the south, frequently changing course, maneuvering, and heading towards the western and central regions.

Later, it was reported that Russian strategic military aviation – MiG-31K and four Tu-95MS bombers – took off and headed towards Ukraine. However, the threat from the MiG-31K was canceled, while the threat from the Tu-95MS remained.

Around 3 a.m., the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the movement of high-speed targets over Ukraine in various directions. Enemy cruise missiles were flying towards Kyiv, Lutsk, Uman, Stryi, Khmelnytskyi, and Vinnytsia. Air defense forces and equipment were active in various regions.

Additionally, enemy kamikaze drones were detected in the sky over Ukraine. The air raid alert due to the enemy attack was canceled only at 5:06 a.m.

Explosions and consequences of the attacks

・Around 5 a.m., local public channels reported explosions in the Lviv region, particularly in the Stryi district. There were also reports of power issues following the enemy missile attack there.

In the morning, the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration (RMA), Maksym Kozytskyi, stated that the enemy had struck a critical energy infrastructure facility in the region, causing a fire, which firefighters were already extinguishing.

According to the official, there was no information about casualties at that time (around 5:30 a.m.).

It's worth noting that monitoring groups had earlier reported power issues following the enemy missile attack in the Stryi district of the Lviv region.

・In the morning, the head of the Volyn RMA, Yuriy Pohulyaiko, reported on his Telegram channel about the fall of enemy air targets that had been shot down in the region. Earlier, during the night, the media reported explosions heard in Lutsk.

The official stated that at dawn, during the air raid alert, air defense was active in the region, and now the aftermath of the debris fall was being dealt with. There were no casualties.

・In Prykarpattia, there was also combat work to repel the air attack. In the morning, Ivano-Frankivsk Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv reported on his Facebook page that there was damage on two streets in the city due to the enemy attack – Berehova and Karpatksa streets.

He later added that damage to residential buildings and a kindergarten was recorded, with windows blown out. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

The mayor released photos showing the aftermath of the enemy attack.

The State Emergency Service (SES) reported that a fire broke out in Ivano-Frankivsk due to an enemy strike on an educational institution. Rescuers noted that a 20-square-meter crater with a fire center formed at the site of the strike, which was extinguished.

"One of the educational buildings is partially destroyed, and others have sustained damage. A car was also damaged," the SES reported, releasing photos of the aftermath.

According to the ministry, the objects of the transmission system operator in the southern and western regions were attacked.

"Additionally, during the shelling, a power transmission line in the eastern region was disconnected, leading to a reduction in load at a generating facility," the ministry informed.

The ministry added that the consequences are currently being clarified and efforts to mitigate them are ongoing.

Later, the National Energy Company Ukrenergo specified that equipment at facilities in the Lviv and Zaporizhzhia regions was damaged. The two injured energy workers were in the Zaporizhzhia region.

What the Russians used to strike Ukraine

According to local administrations regarding the enemy's combined air attack, as reported by the head of the Public Council at the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Serhii Bratchuk, the enemy used the following for the current strikes on Ukraine:
