Recreational space at mall for PJ folk
A retail space in Petaling Jaya has been revamped to double as a recreational hub.
In Section 13, The School by Jaya One has shifted its focus from children’s activities to recreational experiences for youth and adults by switching up its tenant mix.
The mall’s digital content executive Jack Moi said “The vision was to attract tenants for sports and group workouts and strengthen community connections.
“Previously, The School hosted coding, science experiments and kindergarten activities. Now, we’ve pivoted to recreational offerings targeting youngsters aged 16 and above.”
“Our tenants offer a wide array of activities, such as bouldering, Pilates, fitness, rhythmic gymnastics, indoor golf, surf skating and holistic wellness,” he said.
The developer of The School, Tetap Tiara Sdn Bhd executive director Charles Wong said, “After the pandemic, there has been an increase in interest in sports and group exercise towards a sense of community beyond physical fitness.”

Since April, The School has been hosting day-long promotions each month, featuring workshops and demonstrations by its recreational tenants, in addition to a pop-up bazaar.
Participants with memberships were challenged to gather points from various challenges such as bouldering, golf, gymnastics and Pilates.
Top scorers stand a chance at winning RM3,000 at the promotion’s culmination tonight, which ends with a DJ party.
