Anthony Mantha said he was informed that the Vegas Golden Knights would not be offering him a contract and will become a free agent on July 1st, according to a report from RDS.
In his time with the Golden Knights, Mantha scored three goals and 10 points in 18 games. He was healthy scratched for the final four games of round one against the Dallas Stars, so the disinterest from the Golden Knights isn't surprising.
The Golden Knights acquired Mantha from the Washington Capitals ahead of the trade deadline for a second-round pick and a fourth-round pick.
The Golden Knights have five other pending UFAs that includes Alec Martinez, Chandler Stephenson, Jonathan Marchessault, Michael Amadio and William Carrier. Reports stated that the Golden Knights weren't going to negotiate with Mantha, Amadio or Carrier and that they are hoping to be in talks with Stephenson and Marchessault.
Pavel Dorfeyev and Kaedan Korzcak are pending RFAs in need of contracts. The Golden Knights will hope that Dorofeyev can bring a similar element that Mantha provides on a more consistent basis.
