Donald Trump ‘consulting' Barron on campaign as ‘new crypto era' begins for teen

As former president Donald Trump prepares for the first presidential debate next week, he is reportedly "consulting" his youngest son Barron on his campaign, one political insider said.

While Barron, 18, has been largely kept out of the public eye, he made headlines last month when he was announced to serve as a Florida delegate to the Republican National Convention in July.

Shortly after, Melania Trump's office said that Barron would not be serving as a delegate after all, writing in a statement: "While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments."

But it seems Barron is still active in his father's presidential campaign, and one political insider said she is "excited" to see what career the teen chooses to pursue.

Peggy Grande, who worked under the Reagan administration, said exclusively to Daily Express US: "It'll be fun to see what [Barron] chooses to pursue, and apparently he and Donald Trump have this great relationship, and [Trump] actually consults Barron often about political things too."

This comes as Martin Shkreli, the investor and convicted securities fraudster widely referred to as "Pharma Bro," claimed this week that he and Barron are behind the launch of the mysterious DJT crypto token, which is rumored to be linked to the former president.

Shkreli has claimed that he worked with up to 50 people on the token, including Trump's youngest son.

Shkreli said during a live event about Barron: "We're friends, he wants to make money."

DJT's value surged by up to 180 percent on Monday following rumors that Barron was behind the meme coin.

Grande said: "I do think the Trump campaign is the first campaign to accept crypto as political donations. So it's a new era coming."

No matter Barron's involvement in the crypto token, Trump's campaign is going full steam ahead in attacks on President Joe Biden ahead of November's election.

At a rally in Racine, Wisconsin, this week, Trump hammered Biden on immigration and the border, including an announcement on Tuesday that the president's administration will in the coming months allow certain spouses of US citizens without legal status to apply for permanent residency and eventually citizenship.

The move, which could offer relief to potentially hundreds of thousands of immigrants without legal status in the US, came after Biden announced his own aggressive crackdown on the southern border earlier this month, enraging advocates and many Democratic lawmakers.

Trump has frequently described the record number of immigrants crossing the US-Mexico border illegally as an "invasion," suggesting without evidence that Biden is abetting illegal border crossings to help Democrats win elections.
