'It's Completely Insane': Stranger Things Season 5 Gets Major Hype From Vecna Actor
Stranger Things is going out on a high note. Actor Jamie Campbell Bower recently teased that fans should expect a "bigger" and "bonkers" final season of the fan-favorite Netflix series.
During an interview on the podcast, I’ve Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario (via The Hollywood Reporter), Bower hyped the upcoming fifth and final season by sharing, "If you thought last season was nuts, this season is just out of control, wild, like it’s bonkers. It really, really is. It’s bigger. It’s just completely insane. It’s completely insane." Bower made his Stranger Things debut in Season 4, portraying the antagonist Henry Creel/Vecna.

Set photos of Bower filming Stranger Things Season 5 were recently shared online, with the actor shooting a scene on the Creel House set with newcomer Nell Fisher (Evil Dead Rise). Vecna is one of the few roles that Bower has had the chance to revisit in his career, although he isn't the only actor to embody the character. Louis McCartney played Vecna in the 2023 West End production of Stranger Things: The First Shadow, a stage play set in 1959 that follows younger versions of the series' main characters. Bower shared on the podcast that The First Shadow definitely impacted his portrayal of Vecna in Season 5, noting that "a lot of the questions or a lot of the thoughts that I had about that character [were] kind of answered by watching the play.
Stranger Things Season 5 Is Still Filming
Although production was initially slated to begin in 2023, filming for Stranger Things Season 5 was significantly delayed by last year's WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes and did not officially commence until January 2024. Bower's co-star Maya Hawke recently shared how "heartbreaking" it has been to film Season 5 knowing that it'll be the last time everybody is together. "But as a late addition cast member, I feel like it's my job to be here to facilitate their feelings and just be grateful and excited to have been a part of it at all," she added.
