Chasing severe thunderstorms roll through southern Ontario
You're asking for the coverage continues here on The Weather Network. I'm meteorologist Melinda Singh. We did have a brief train of warning across southwestern Ontario that has now dropped, looking at a few severe thunderstorm warnings up towards Saint Mary's, Chatham, Rodney, Stratford, Mitchell, Watford, down towards Glencoe, looking at a strong line of storms pushing in. Now we also have Mark Robinson, our storm hunter. He is going to be tracking these storms the next few hours. Mark, let us know where you're all headed out to. Had it actually down towards the essentially down towards the Port Stanley area, sort of see that storm as it's beginning to push across Southwestern Ontario. These storms were somewhat unexpected. There was a bit of instability and a bit of sheer Southern Ontario is always one of those very tricky spots to to forecast for. But if we have enough shear in the air, especially in Southern Ontario, and what that means is winds coming in different directions in the atmosphere, we can get these significant severe storms. And this one definitely doing that, that little bit of sheer can spin those storms up into supercells. Supercells of course, produce lots of lighting, high winds, large hail, and occasionally tornadoes. That's what this one may have done. So we're just watching these ones very closely. But keep in mind the biggest danger in any storm is not the Tornadoes or the high winds. It's always the lightning. So definitely these ones are producing some lightning. I've, I've actually already seen a few and have been pretty far away from the storm. So definitely, you know, if you get that severe warning on your phone, just be prepared and you know, make sure you're in shelter because you know, as I said, biggest danger always lightning. I'll be headed down towards this one near London and potentially waiting for the the rest of them come through. It's been an active season so far. All right, thanks for that Mark. Now, as you mentioned, it's going to continue to travel in an eastward direction and we're going to continue to track it here on The Weather Network coming up.
