Erik ten Hag open to Jose Mourinho's plan to reunite with Man Utd star at Fenerbahce
Jose Mourinho is eyeing a move for Manchester United star Victor Lindelof, and it is a deal Erik ten Hag could be open to.
The Red Devils defender arrived at Old Trafford in 2017, under Mourinho, and has made more than 250 appearances for the club. United spent £31million to land the Swedish international from Benfica.
Lindelof's role under Ten Hag has been inconsistent, predominantly due to injury, as he missed large stretches of last term despite being a contender for the starting XI. The club has already decided that a few players are not for sale, should the correct offer arrive, however.
United are looking to add new central defenders to their side this summer and are open to offers for the 29-year-old, according to reports. Lindelof has a year remaining on his current contract.
.The 13-times Premier League champions have already seen a bid turned down for Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite. An improved offer is expected for the Toffees star after their first offer of £34million plus £8m in add-ons did not prove tempting.
After seeing his position secured as United boss, Ten Hag has made clear that he does not want to cede control of the club's transfer business to the hierarchy entirely.
The Dutchman was briefed on the club's policy during a meeting in Ibiza when he was informed he would not be sacked. The 56-year-old was adamant that he would retain a role identifying possible transfer targets, having insisted on a clause giving him sign-off on transfers when negotiating with United about taking over at Old Trafford in 2022.

For Lindelof's part, he has previously spoken highly of Mourinho. He told Aftonbladet in 2019: "[Mourinho] is, after all, one of the world's best coaches and he is supposed to have a job at one of the biggest clubs. I miss him in football.
"He's a great coach and a great person, whom I owe a great deal. It was he who gave me the chance here, who brought me into everything.
"I have all the respect in the world for him and appreciate everything he has said and done for me, from scolding to a hug. Even if I did not agree, at the time, he has very great charisma, you had great respect for him. He's won everything. When he says something, you listen."
