Fox sisters open up on special bond ahead of Paris Olympics
Star sisters, join us right now from Paris and Leon. Good to see you both girls. Congratulations. Thank you. Thank you. It's great to be with you all. I I'm just out of breath just explaining how incredible you both are. I mean, Jess, seriously, is there anything you can't do? Yeah. It's been a pretty amazing weekend in Krakow, the third, third World Cup event and to finish with three gold medals, hitting the milestone of my 5th, 50th World Cup medal. Yeah, pretty stoked with that. And it's been a great block of World Cup racing. Yeah, that's right. Well, 50 gold medals. Just casually you're in the canoe, the kayak, the kayak cross, the new event as well. I mean, it's that that sounds exhausting. How do you actually steady yourself for all three events? Yeah, I'm. I'm feeling it today after a big weekend. I'm definitely feeling feeling tired. That's the kayak cross. They're battling it out. I think it's really important to kind of manage yourself throughout the weekend. You can get run by one and step by step and leaving it all out there in the kayak cross. That's where, you know, all the argy bargy happens and a lot can go wrong. But a lot went well for me. So it was it was good. Yeah. I remember you telling me when we had a chat not long ago about how brutal that kayak cross can be. Naomi. Sorry, Naomi. That's where you actually qualified in the kayak cross. It can be pretty tough out there, right? Yeah. I mean, it's definitely a a grueling category. And my selection event to qualify quota for Australia at the Prague World Cup was definitely up there with the hardest events that I've ever done. And it was such a grueling and taxing day, racing from 9:00 until 5:00 PM until finally securing that spot for Australia. And nothing's official yet, but very close to finalizing, getting a hold of that boarding pass and, and joining Jess and the rest of the Olympic team in Paris, which is, you know, just an an absolute dream come true. I mean, you are one step closer to fulfilling that dream. You know, I mean, I know that this has been such incredible hard work for you. And when you've got, you know, Jess as your sister, the world champion, the GOAT, it's difficult sometimes, right, to try and measure up. Yeah, definitely. And I think when she keeps on increasing her C&D and making it even more unattainable. But I think for me, this Olympic cycle, having had that, you know, opening and that opportunity to have my, I guess my window to to shoot my shot. And no matter how small it was, I think, you know, we really gave it the best possible shot to to go out there and, and get that quota for Australia and having such an incredible team that backed me the whole way into, you know, not backing down. And no matter how slim it was, you know, fully believing in me. And to be able to share that whole day of racing with Jess, with my family, with the support staff and the the rest of the Australian team was just so special. So, yeah, I think you it's incredible now to to have a mentor like Jess who knows how to handle the pressure, who can help me make the most of my first Olympics. And yeah, I I really cannot wait. That's one of the things I love about the two of you most, though. It's just how special your bond is. And and in fact, your whole family, you know, you're all there for one another. It it's a really strong bond that you share, Jess, isn't it? Yeah, I think, you know, we felt all the emotions seeing Noemi sort of fulfill that dream in Prague. The whole family was there supporting, cheering. I lost my voice. I've never been that nervous. But, you know, to be able to now do this together is extremely special because we've been training together, racing together for the last, you know, almost 10 years now. And she's worked so incredibly hard. And I'm so proud of her. And I'm looking forward to getting getting to Paris and, you know, battling it out in training and then, you know, racing together and sharing that experience. Your parents must be chuffed, too. Yeah, I think that teams from everyone is. Yeah. And I think, you know, to to have that moment where we could share it all together kind of made it feel a little bit like Tokyo with just winning gold and being there to share it as well. So it was nice to have dad here this time. You know, he missed out on that Tokyo moment. So yeah, it's it's really special to to be able to share it all together. Well, girls, congratulations. You truly are superstars, Bonchance, and we'll see you in Paris. Thank you so much.
