Fellow Dallas Cowboy gives DeMarvion Overshown advice following major injury
When he was drafted in the third round of last April's NFL Draft, former Texas Longhorns linebacker DeMarvion Overshown was expected to make an immediate impact for the Dallas Cowboys.
He has always been a high-energy player who can run from sideline to sideline with ease, and he quickly showcased that before the season as he was well on his way to solidifying himself as a starter. However, in what was his second preseason game, Overshown went down with an injury against the Seattle Seahawks. While looking to make a tackle, his left leg appeared to get a bit stuck in the turf which resulted in him tearing his ACL. Just days after buzz around him becoming a starter began, his rookie season was ripped away.
Something that his fellow teammate in Dallas, Damone Clark, told him to stay positive about as Overshown is now essentially heading into 2024 as a redshirt freshman.

“I just told him to have faith,” Clark said of Overshown, via DallasCowboys.com. “D-Mo comes in everyday — ready. He’s itching to get out there. I was telling him it was the same thing for me. I looked at last year as my rookie year, just getting thrown in the fire my first year and having a full season under me last year.”
He also revealed what his message to Overshown was about the situation in general saying:
“I told him God won’t give you [any] more than you can handle or bear,” he said. “Obviously, he’s gonna think about his knee, but I tell him to try and not think about it, or it’ll slow him down. It was a learning experience for me. Thinking about my neck slowed me down.”
During his time as a Longhorn, Overshown came to Austin as a five-star safety but left as a linebacker who was the team's leader vocally and also by example. He will now look to have that same impact at the next level.
