ITV Grantchester issues filming update after Tom Brittney's exit

Grantchester has given its fans a significant update on filming. This positive news will be warmly received by the hit BBC crime drama's audience, especially after the announcement that Tom Brittney would be permanently leaving the show.
Tom revealed his departure from the long-standing series in 2023 after five years portraying Reverend Will Davenport. Since 2019, the actor has played the beloved character alongside Robson Green's Geordie.
The ninth series of Grantchester, due to air in 2025, has already been filmed and will mark Tom's final appearance. At the end of last year, he announced he was stepping away from the role to concentrate on new ventures.

He expressed: "I've had the most incredible time playing Will Davenport for the last five years.I got to solve crimes with my best friend, and work with the best cast and crew I could ever ask for."
"I'll miss it more than anything. But it's time for the baton to be passed, as it once was to me, and I'm so excited for Rishi to join the Grantchester family," reports the Express.
While Tom is preparing to exit the series, Rishi Nair is set to step in as the charming Vicar Alphy Kotteram. The actor, known from Hollyoaks and Count Abdulla, will be familiar to viewers.
And now in a new update, ITV has confirmed that Grantchester has been greenlit for a tenth season. Robson Green and Rishi Nair will star as DI Geordie Keating and Reverend Alphy Kottaram respectively.
In addition to Robson and Rishi, other returning cast members include Al Weaver as Leonard Finch, Tessa Peake-Jones as Mrs. C, Kacey Ainsworth as Cathy Keating, Oliver Dimsdale as Daniel Marlowe, Nick Brimble as Jack Chapman, Bradley Hall as DC Larry Peters and Melissa Johns as Miss Scott.
Writer and executive producer, Daisy Coulam, said: "This show is a testament to our lovely team - the cast and crew. I'm so grateful and proud that we get to come back together for our tenth season and another glorious summer in Grantchester!".
