Weather chaos sparks mud bath mayhem at Download as fans fear for Glastonbury
Download Festival descended into chaos as the turbulent weather caused a 'literal mud bath' as fans slammed the facilities.
The highly-anticipated festival had the likes of Queens of the Stone Age and Fall Out Boy perform at Donington Park, Leicestershire, to around 75,000 festival-goers. However, many said the facilities were "not fit for purpose" and some were left stranded after the heavy showers caused multiple issues at this weekend's event.
On Sunday, a number of performances had to be moved back while staff tried to improve conditions in the arena. Some fans claimed they had mud up to their knees while some were forced to sleep in their cars. One said on social media: "I got stuck in North Carpark for 9 hours overnight and had to sleep in my van.
"I had my hazard lights on for 3 hours. When someone finally came I was told that they'd send someone in the morning and left me on my own. This isn't acceptable." Another festival-goer complained: "Because of the situation leaving last night, we aren’t coming back today, it just isn’t worth it, cars were getting stuck for hours with no help, no staff at ALL. The arena also a literal mud bath."

Although fans tried to stay positive with clips and pictures of the extreme mud, they complained about the 'health hazard' of it. One festival fan shared a snap of her boots in the mud and said it was 'officially over her ankles' She added that the mud was a 'serious health hazard'.
Heavy metal band Pantera noticed the conditions and took to social media to share a clip of a few muddy fans crowd surfing. They captioned the video: "We had a great time today at Download! Here’s a glimpse of our performance. Hope you guys had fun in the mud."
One fan even made a 'mud angel' and shared the hilarious video on Twitter (X). Meanwhile, Glastonbury Festival is only days away as fans gear up to watch their favourite artists between 26 and 30 June. Hopefully, fans won't have to worry about mud baths and heavy showers when Coldplay, Sza, Dua Lipa and The Streets take to the stage.
